Science and action for thriving oceans and communities
Ocean ecosystems are facing unprecedented threats from industrial fishing and other human pressures. At the Shared Seas Lab, we use rigorous methods from the natural and social sciences to understand how these forces impact marine biodiversity, ecosystems, and the coastal communities that depend on them. By combining ecological data, social science research, and innovative analytical tools, we generate actionable insights to inform conservation and sustainable management. Our work is deeply collaborative, driven by partnerships with fishers, managers, policymakers, and coastal communities, and rooted in the belief that collective action is essential to create thriving oceans and resilient human communities.
